my SR's been running like shit.. for example: it starts choking at low rpm, my A/C compressor's clutch is bad, my timing's bad, tensionor's loose, and i've lost to 2 mustang GT's.. =[ and im sure theres more to it that i dont know of, thats why i was thinking if a compression test on my motor could find out wut tha problem is? and is there any shop yall recommend to tune SR's? im thinking bout "regulate"? give me some advice plz. thanx

I would recommend you take it to garageworks in cali! lol thats where all my shit goes along with dvs/lv240s14... If you catch me in town I'll gladly take a look at it but thats not too common. Shops in town... Doug is quite the busy man and there is Trevtec... Trevor can well be a dick sometimes especially when he is busy but he has done good work for me in the past. I would say if either doug or trevor could find time since it could be something not to serious and figured out relatively easily. Vegas is the worst town to get your car worked on and I wouldnt recommend going anywhere but to those 2 and if you can find a why try Garageworks in palmdale and tell em cfinch sent ya I promise you wont be dissapointed. The most knowledgable guys they will fix anything and for good prices and honest not to mention they are funny as fuck and cool to kick it with. They know the sr like the back of their hand...

i'll second the Garageworks vote. I've dealt with them for small purchases and random parts but not whole installs and such. Even for those things they were cool and nice, not to mention knowledgeable. Last time I was there they were doing a 1jz supra motor swap into an S13, very nice.

Great people at garageworks I just got my car back like 2 weeks ago from them and I got alot of shit done for cheap(compared to other places). If you can make it out there I wouldn't go any other place at all. Regulate is way over priced from what i have been quoted there. If you want to compression test you engine i have one at my house and i am open tomorrow call me at 7022356875 I would be glad to help you out.

^hey bro I have to talk to you give me a call 985 6131
sounds like maybe a maf problem? if it started doing it all of the sudden, it couldnt be the timing unless you fucked around with it...my motor isnt tuned at all, its leaned out a little bit on the afc but thats it, and it still pulls hard and is healthy, my compression went 1-4--150, 155, 150, 150
hope you dont lose to anymore gt's

wow sounds like garageworks is very reliable. i jus happen to plan on going to cali this weekend, so can yall tell me where garageworks is? and if theres a phone number i could get from anyone of you would help =]
so how much you think they'd ask for jus for a tune up and check up whats wrong with my car? its kinda fucked up cuz i had my swap done in cali montibello by the shop "R and D factory" i thought they were reliable too cuz my cousin got his turbo SC300 done by them and i guess they did an ok job? but the shop and the owner havent been picking up the phone and im not planning on going way the hell down there and end up finding out their shop is closed or wut not. but if you all recommend garageworks, im thinking bout taking my car there =]

Could be a MAF problem, yeah. I'm not savvy with RWD SR's, but I've had 3 FWD SR's in my SE-R and regrounding the MAF is an easy fix that most people need to do at some point. I'm assuming the DET MAF may have the same issue.
Here's a link to the FWD fix, if it helps at all. You just need a muti-meter, some small guage wire and about an hour of time.
MAF regrounding link (http://www.se-r.net/engine/maf_ground.html)
Compression test won't tell you as much as a leak-down test. Find a shop to do a leak down for you and that will give you a good idea what's going on.
Timing is an easy fix that you can do yourself. Also check your plugs and replace those if necessary.
Tensioners I have no experience with. FWD SR's are $300 out the door so it's hardly even worth cracking them open to fix with new parts.
Hope that link helps a bit,
Ryan
