I know a lot of people have mods to their cars but if your car gets stolen is your insurance gonna cover it. What do you have to do to get your insurance to cover it. Ive heard that if you have full coverage and then keep all your reciepts to the stuff you buy they will cover you. Just curious cuz im trying to figure out which route to go.

It's really a crap-shoot.
I know some people have spoken with their agents, notify agents of mods (and their associated costs) and it's covered...then again, their premiums are higher to cover the extra cost.
On the other hand, I've heard of people having insurance claims denied (and even having policies cancelled) because there agent has learned they have a "modified" car, and honestly, it's well within the insurance companies right to do this (just read your policy carefully).
For most of us, we have S13's, which honestly are worth next to nothing. I for one have liability only on mine. If (god forbid) anything happened with my car, I would probably just buy a new shell, and swap everything (sr20, suspension mods, etc...) over to the new shell. Sure, I'd eat the cost of my paint-work, etc., but KBB for my car is only $2K or something like that.
Another thing to consider (at least with S13's) is that just about any accident (especially ones to a rear 1/4 panel) will cause at least 75% of the value of the car in damage, which in Nevada means they total your car. This means that unless you buy the car back from the ins. co, you have to turn the car over to them in the same condition it was wrecked in, that means no pulling the engine, mods, etc.
Basically, insurance to me (at least on my s13) is merely a monthly cost to be able to legally drive in Nevada. I don't plan on ever making a claim, and they sure as hell won't be able to help me if anything happens.

I want full coverage :P finding a good looking shell for my year is nearly impossible because most are fully functional so it would be great to get full coverage. but if anything does happen (please God forbid), I'll try going to a wrecking yard and look for replacement panels or whatever. Plus liability insurance covers your ass from people hitting YOU but doesnt cover your car when you hit THEM. So as long as you're not recklessly drifting and driving all day, you should feel safe knowing your at least insured under liability.
