I'm so glad this semester is almost done. I only have my final report on the hovercraft and an e-portfolio left before finals.

yay no school today!!! I hope that means no complex numbers on the final, maybe we should study them a little just in case.

grrr...got stuck at a light in the snow this morning, some guy hopped out and asked if I wanted him to push me...and dumb me said yes, so he hopped in his truck and pushed, soft at first, then he gave me a pretty good bump...oh well, it didn't crack the bumper, or even the paint, but I think he broke the styrofoam cause I heard a pop but I can't see anything...uhg..

On a brighter note, I got my z32 ecu, and once I have the cash it's getting sent to nistune.:D

Kurai Shimo
12-09-2009, 04:13 PM
got blizzak ws60's (pair) on the s14... seriously, more grip than i had before with chains (bald tires though, haha)
id like to get a vlsd as well though, i think i would be extremly helpful without locking too hard and making the car too difficult to drive for anyone else.

wakotow
12-09-2009, 06:58 PM
ya, I'm on my 245 khumo's, fantastic in the summer, so-so in snow, except for uphills from a stop. I've never owned/regularly driven anything other than rear wheel drive with a vlsd, so I don't know anything else.

ZenkiTrev
12-09-2009, 08:29 PM
My car is absolutely worthless in the snow. I drove through some snow turning onto an uphill side street last night and the car just stopped. Had to dig it out with an adjustable crescent wrench...

that blows...I just got my new ecu yesterday, got the wiring done except for the consult port, which should be all done and running by tonight.

ZenkiTrev
01-11-2010, 11:01 PM
Hey Andrew! What's up man? I haven't talked to you since finals week.
How's the nistune going?

wakotow
01-12-2010, 06:16 AM
Things are goin pretty good, I've got it in the car, but I am unable to get my laptop to connect to the ecu. I e-mailed and he told me to recheck my consult port wiring...I probably shouldn't have used crimp connectors, I was just in a rush...so when I get off work I'll be checking that wiring (I may have gotten two of them switched), and soldering all of them as well. But nistune preloaded the stock rb25 map, and set it up for my z32 maf, so I've been driving on it, it's a little richer than I had before with my safc2, but not to bad.

My car also ligitimately passed smog for the second year...I can't believe it's already been a year.

What've you been up to? Any drifting lately? Any new parts on your car?

ZenkiTrev
01-13-2010, 03:16 AM
Wow! Glad to hear you're driving on it. How'd the wiring check go today?

I've spent pretty much the entire break working. That and catching up with old friends.
Aside from maintenance items, the car is pretty much the same. Just trying to keep it running well really.
So far no drifting. I'll be driving at the event is on Saturday though! Should be a lot of fun to get back on the track. Then off to the airport the next day to head back to good ole Reno.

wakotow
01-13-2010, 07:30 AM
So I got one wire wrong, I guess it helps to read the diagram instead of winging it.
It works!! It runs about 10.5AFR at the very top, this evening I'll get my wideband running in nistune so I can log that as well, then I should be set to start adjusting fuel maps and increase the rev limiter hehe...

Did you figure out what to do about your cooling? What temp have you been running in this cooler weather? The track opens in march are you gonna bring your car? It's a bummer that reno is so far from vegas, otherwise it'd be feasible to meet with the crowd down there.

veloce240sx
01-14-2010, 08:35 PM
Track are you speaking of Fallon? My car wont be ready by march but mid summer I should be good to go. Glad to hear about your tune. You should swing by my new place so I can check that shit out!

wakotow
01-15-2010, 07:38 AM
Ya Fallon is open in March. Right now I'm just running on the basemap, but I'm going to lay into it all weekend, I don't think it'll take me too long to get started. So ya, as soon as it's runnin' good, I can swing by your place...or, we could do some sort of back to school meet.

Damn linear algebra? Sounds tough. I think im gonna take my usual classes. Work, Work on car, Xbox.

wakotow
01-19-2010, 07:07 AM
Ya we'll see how tough it is, most people I know that've taken it said it was pretty easy.

I could deal with car and xbox...that whole work thing gets old...lol too bad for me I guess.

ZenkiTrev
01-19-2010, 11:02 AM
Yep figured out cooling. I went through the engine bay checking things and found a boost leak at the stock recirc valve location, sealed up the cooling fans better so that the air would actually be forced to go through the radiator and found that the timining was at 22degrees  Set it to 15 and the car is a lot better. In normal driving the highest the car gets is 165. I was able to get it up to 210 after about 6 hot laps at the drift event, but I'm going to assume that's normal.

The car will likely stay in vegas... no place to keep it here in Reno.

I was going to call you about this, I couldn't find one either. We'll probably find out on Wednesday. I actually did try to get into linear algebra, but there weren't any spots left. I'll keep checking the next 2 weeks.... it's likely someone will drop.

wakotow
01-19-2010, 01:25 PM
Is there a noticiable shift in performance now that it's back to stock timing? Mine is almost too cool, normal driving it's around 160, but if I hammer it and then have to stop, and the fans havent' kicked on yet, then it gets up to 180 and then like 15 seconds later it's back down to 165ish...we'll see what summer brings, I may do a intercooler spray bar and just mist my radiator when it gets hot...I wonder if I can rig it up to the ecu...mmm. You should drive the white one home, and the red one back on spring break:D

I agree...sunshine and happiness lol

If I had the winshield washer pump and resivoir anymore I could...but I didn't have the lines going to the hood, and I had no resivoir, so I pulled the pump. I'll probably hook it up once summer hits, so I can do the mister bar, and possibly use the resivoir with water/meth injection (if I can earn enough to afford that too).

Robert have you worked on your s13 recently, or is it just collecting dust on that sparkly paint?

ZenkiTrev
01-21-2010, 10:27 PM
Haha I'm definitely thinking sunshine. I don't know if it'd be worth bringing the car up with no events though.

wakotow

are there any gas stations...punk lol...on 4th street, Allied Washoe, they sell just about anything I'm pretty sure up to C16, I know they have 108. There is also a place on prater and sparks, or near there. Of course the simple solution is water/meth injection, then you can run on 91 and still run your 30psi (or whatever floats your boat).

I think the closest we have to drift events is when it snows and the silly californians try to drive in it...sorry. We did have one drifting event at the Grand Sierra, but that was only once...I doubt it happens again.

What if we all do a burnout in front of the student union? You two could bring your cars up, since I can't drift (I don't know about you cody), and show them what it's all about. Or you could learn me to drift, and then I can show them what it's all about.

maybe with a turbo diesel truck you could blend in. (lifted of course)
