yes, this just means more events for the local drivers! we will be working with VD on scheduling. At least until May it will be month 2 month and TBA after that because of the summer weather in vegas.

Finally, after many years of no drift events in vegas... now we are gonna be bombarded with events! please keep them on the tracks! save your cars for the TRACK events!!!

as far as track lay out we will try to work something out with that.

I don't get why we need 2 different organizations running events? If there were a need I'm sure Nick would step up and run more which he has! We went from every other month to every month to fill the demand... I just don't quite understand why Justdrift is coming to Vegas now? In the same month as a Vegasdrift event at that...

I talked to Nick about the 2 events... it will be every other month basis.

JD will try to have Jan, March, May, and July.

Nick will have his events Feb, April, and June.

so events every month from january until july... not to mention Nick still doing the Nellis events, usually its 2 a year.

look at it this way Chris, events every month... its just more for the community. not going to try to take "business" away from nick becuase theres is no money being made in drifting. its all for the community.

I was there with Charlie, Tommy, JT, Ace, Mike,kevin, Ken (among others)... back when we were drifting in california twice a month for driftdays, justdrift, speed trials, and even in drifting at friggin airport tarmacs... these guys all know me and some even owe me money :D

Hey LV240S14. Vegasdrift.com was handed off by me to some of my trusted friends, I never gave it away. I hosted the site for free for so many years and put time and effort myself into it. Some of my friends came to me and asked if I could help out and that's what I am doing. Vegasdrift, even though it ran events does have some very annoying internal squabbles and even to this day when we tried to get everything put back together it unfortunately didn't work out. I don't want to spill the beans on an internet forum but it basically comes down to.

Is vegasdrift making a million dollars? No. Is my motive to take on this awesome organization and take over the world? No. I am here to help out my good friends as I know they will do for myself.

The is my mine. That I will never let go. I offered them to buy it from me and they didn't want it... they had their chance. Now I change my mind and I see that some people also don't want me to sell it and they have a point. Vegasdrift is our own, and by OURS I mean all the people who were there from the beginning and helping out to this day.

Did I ask money from the new people who used vegasdrift for their benefit? No. Did I ask for a percentage from any of the non-existent profits from events? No.

From a business perspective, Vegasdrift will not make money like some people are imagining it would. Vegasdrift as I see it is a portal for local drivers to get track time, improve and meet other great people... and with JustDrift putting more of their help then we have more of a chance for exposure and other benefits that JustDrift drivers are getting. Some people see JustDrift as intimidating and probably see me as that way too, but this is not about money or business to me.

We could've worked with Vegasdrift.net (Why did they not change the name, I don't know). It was on the table but it was rejected. That's the point. I've been into the car scene when kiddies were still drag racing their CRX down by sunset... been there, done that.

finch, you should do more research about events, organizations and history of events before making accusations and conclusions. especially on how vegasdrift started.
ken was the first one who put an event there in vegas at sam boyd. we've always done vegas research and feasibilty studies on demographics. we've tried to negotiate with hotels and even laughlin venue. sema 2007 i was at the speedway trying to convince them to open up for the event. i spent 2 hours there with my laptop until it ran out of battery trying to convince them to hold an event. sent all kinds of proposals and letters of recommendations from other venues. i went back again in 08 to lvms and talk to them again. no hard date was booked by any organizations. in may 08 we already had an approval from lvms to do drifting in the speedway on sema weekend. feddy day was supposed to be in lvms during sema weekend.that's how far back we tried. anyway, there's more information internally in both orgs than being discussed publicly. i'm not gonna make a long post about this. you want to support drifting in vegas? go build a running car and take it to one of the events. regardless which one, what matters is you're out there shredding it! justdrift is just expanding, people been asking us to expand. i have a lot of friends in vegas and vegas i consider my 2nd home. for 2008 we're also going to be in norcal and bringing irwindale back to grassroots level. stop being a dick in the internet, you're like al but vegas version. you're not helping the scene. what does that make you? a big e-thug? come on finch, you know better than that man, and you know it too. anyway... see you guys out there. doesn't matter what event you go to. just keep it on the tracks.

I know how Vegasdrift started... I remember the beginning and what Ken had done. I was in California at the time and never attended... That's how business works. But if I know most of you here, you'll support one if not both, because you want to drive. As for me, I support Nick, Charlie, Mike, Ken .. and everyone else who provides safe means for the entire Vegas community to drive, drift, and track. There's more events now and some of you still find reasons to complain. Go drive, show your support and there will be more events to come. The way I see it is Toyo was a sponsor for the Vegasdrift events... Granted they didn't give much of anything and aren't willing to step up and offer what Federal is... Bottom line is they were willing to be a part of what is going on in Vegas and at least recognize us... Thats a starting point to building a relationship with a company in order to have future backing when us as a community can come together and show that we can make this events happen and we aren't going anywhere. Now how good does it look when someone who is a partial owner of this llc that is throwing an event that Toyo is sponsoring to show up in a Federal shirt? Obviously Federal is offering alot more! We all understand that but there is no requirement to wear that at a Vegas event... There was no request to wear a Toyo shirt... Why couldn't it just be something neutral? Something that wouldn't be conflicting at all?

I don't get where everyone thinks we are now having events every month thanks to Justdrift... There was already going to be events every month... Till someone decided to step in and force Nick out of a date... Not to mention a much bigger and more recognized organization! We aren't getting an extra event in Vegas out of this... We are just having someone else organize this one because the original person was forced out... There is no fair play here... Justdrift and Ken do deserve some credit for what they have done in the past and what Justdrift continues to do in socal but this whole situation is kind of fucked and it's the truth!!! Over what? so your saying that its my fault i wore my federal shirt and i started the conflict? hahaha! WOW! 1st of all, TOYO's name was brought in without even my permission, nor i was asked about that. whoever made a decision to put in TOYO didnt even bother to ask me. so where is the neutral ground there? did i complain? NO! when i wore my shirt i asked Nick permission a month prior the nellis event, even the use of our federal tent i asked for permission. we all agreed to that and moved on, not until a month after the event when Nick suddenly had issues with me because of a damn shirt and had personal attacks on me because of that. even the event before nellis i wore my shirt and there was no problems what so ever. i do feel that he created the conflict when there is suppose to be no conflict at all. and that is only one event with him, what more for future events?

the way i see it, friends comes 1st, obviously i dont give a damn about the business part of the whole thing. i like drifting because im having fun doing it not because i want to make money out of it. if Nick was really my friend he would suck it up and loose some ego and talk to me and fix the problem. obviously we didnt came to that conclusion and moved on separate ways. now with all this bullshit that you guys are forcing us to blow up will not even help the situation. there you go i said it, yes i do think that he has a big ego and i would hope that he will consider the friendship that we built before the whole vegasdrift situation, how i wished that i didnt even became a part of that stupid LLC!

and for everyones information, i dont think that Nick took the risk of making events happen here in vegas. Kevin and Tommy took the risk of getting the LLC getting the insurance and making things happen. now the speedway is more lenient on having small events like drifting and autocross. for the longest time lvrscca couldnt run an event on the speedway because of the rates are not easily attainable. Nick made a lot of effort for the community and im not about to take anything away from his hard work, but its not enough for him to own something that doesn't even belong to him, me, kevin, or tommy in the 1st place.

we had our times when we fought online and made our peace. so as ace and you and some other people in the community. yes you are my friend, and somewhat i know how to approach or talk to you hopefully by now you would at least give me the benefit of the doubt because im not the type of person that will fuck someone over.

I really wanted to refrain from getting really into private business online, but I feel it is important for me clear up some misconceptions propagated by people that are just making assumptions.

Let me introduce myself to everyone on the board. My name is Kevin Leung, some of you guys may know me from my SW20 then AE86 days. For our new drivers, you may know me as the guy driving around in the ranger yelling at people to slow down in the pit. I've been a part of Vegas Drift since 2004 and started Vegas Drift LLC with Tommy and Mike in 2006. There’s also a good reason I keep talking to you guys about safety, from the beginning I have been the person in charge of the insurance and the sanctioning of the events through US Drift. So I feel very strongly about our 100% safety record. Sorry if I have come off as harsh or impersonal on the track, but maintaining a safe environment benefits everyone involved.

ken- Now all of a sudden people are stepping in saying they are the same why weren't they the same to begin with? I really just want to know that.

As long as I’ve have been a part of it, I feel that Vegas Drift has always been a group effort. We all brought a different piece to the table to make things work. To say that Tommy ran Vegas Drift would be unfair to everyone else involved, which is something Tommy would tell you. We always tried to accomplish our common goals as a team.

where were you when we all needed you? vegas wasn't good enough then, but now that nick has shown you guys that there is a big scene here afterall, and a good market, NOW you want to step in and throw events.

The questions about the market were answered long ago. There was always enough drivers to fill events. Vegas Drift has never failed to fill an event that we have organized up to this point, even when the events were not well advertised. We were even able to get 25 drivers from Vegas to drive to Willow Springs for an event. We had 40 driving around in a pit at Boulder City. The problem in Vegas has always been a venue problem. Nick was able to contact the right people at LVMS and they have been offered us terms that we were able to work with, hence the ability to put on more frequent events.

Bottom line if he didn't take the financial risk and discover that wow there really is a market in Vegas for an event every month then Justdrift would not be showing up in January... The event for the 17th was already scheduled before Mike knew about the Vegas Drift event on the 25th, at least this is what I understood of the situation. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind about what was done right or what was done wrong, I just want to clear things up.

I am deeply saddened by how thing have transpired. I hope you believe my sincerity when I tell you that I started with Vegas Drift with no intention of making money. I don’t believe any of us did. We shared a common love of the sport and we wanted to drift in our home town. How sad things have become. Now it seems Vegas Drift is being torn apart. When I think about Vegas Drift I remember the crazy Hankook events in 2004, the long treks down to Willow Springs, and all the people that I’ve met along the way. Vegas Drift is something that I have an emotional attachment to and has been a big part of my life for long time. It’s unfortunate that Nick and Mike were unable to work out their differences and such a small rift evolved into what it is now. Both of them have done a lot for the community.

I still hold out hope that there will be a positive solution to all of this, and until that time I respectfully ask all of you to keep some of your comments to yourself. I understand the curiosity and concern of what is going on in the community, but stirring the pot is not going to benefit anyone. The people involved need to work things out for themselves.

I still seriously think this discussion has blown out of proportion. I think this is their business, their own problem (if there's still a problem) and by calling out names and saying these or those people are not that great contributors in comparison to whoever, is simply worsening the situation.

I'll put it in a way you hungry hippos can understand. Some of the people here think that there's beef cooking here that will not be resolved unless they come in and spill fuel to the fire themselves but reality is this is their bbq, not yours. Every little degrading/negative thought being put down here by certain people is simply dividing the entire group of drift lovers here, it's really retarded.

I think the situation has already been discussed and the people has put their own opinions into the pot and its done. There's more events in town now, go drive them. That's it. Find something else to complain about, like how awful it is to have to buy so more tires again for drifting.

PS: Mike, you can make a new thread about the event and I'll have one of us move the posts regarding that event into it and we'll move this discussion to a diff forum. I'd move the posts on here but there's 7+ pages, that's a lot of things to move, I'd rather just more the ones that were relating to the event.
