This is very much a work in progress LOL. I work on it almost everyday. Here is the progress.

So here is how I got this car. Tired old and not happy. She was going through a set of plugs every week, running off the gage lean at idle, had vaccum leaks, and wiring problems galore. I am trying to find pictures of the engine bay before I did any work but I haven't yet. Here is the outside.

So once I got the car because of the running lean at idle and such. The SAFC settings were all pegged. Trying to lean it at idle and then maxing out the injector the rest of the way up to get decent afrs. First thing I checked was the wiring cause I like wiring... for the most part. And I found among other things that the fuel pump was wired off the cigarette lighter circut. Yeah fixed that and that helped a bit. Then I recirculated the stock bov because they are open at idle(big vaccum leak) and the pcv system. After that I reset the ecu, zero all the safc settings then started the car I let it idle, watched the afrs, go rich then walk over to lean, then go and find their happy medium wlking back and forth around 14 at idle. Hell yeah. Alright onto the next project.

Spark issues. No pictures on this one. Basically I was blowing out spark at 4,000 rpms which wasn't making me happy at all. So changed out the plugs to some colder ngk coppers, and it helped a little but not good enough. Pulled the coil and cleaned up the contact and stretched the springs. Found that one of the insulators was missing and the spark was arcing to the head. Found one from a J30(I think) that fit it enough. Now it let me go all the way up to 6500 rpms, with only a little bit of what feels like spark blowing out. Good enough for now.

They day we finally got the car running to 6000rpms and only did one low key part throttle run up to it. Drove home to drop my friend off literally a 2 minute drive. And backing into the driveway the timing belt went. Blah blah blah long story short. head gasket turned out to not have been sized properly for the head being milled down and bent four valves. Pictures to come.

Alright, while the car has been down. I decided to work on some other things seeing as I had a lot of down time waiting for parts. So what the heck. I thought I would put some 300zx seats in it seeing as I was lucky enough to be able to practically streip everything out of a z32 that hit the junkyard when I was there.

I wouldn;t recommend doing this unless you have a bit of time the right tools and like pain. Or you are like me and have more time than money since you are in college. So here is what was neccessary to do.

Alright. Now I am running 12lbs of boost and 14 at times. Now I found that part fo the seeming spark blowing out only happened when I hit 10lbs of boost or more. I did some searching and found out that the stock ecu is only mapped up to 9psi. This was fixed easily enough by a little soldering and a chip from a shop called Speedlabperformance on ebay. He even gave me the tuning for the z32 maf so I honestly don;t even need to run an safc anymore. Cracked apart the ecu and then put in this. Good for 15 lbs of boost now.

Also somehwere along the lines I was having trouble with my car maintaining amperage and my voltage was dropping to 11-12 volts at 3000 rpm and never going above 13.4 volts at peak. So Decided it was time to modify and pop in a Nissan Quest Altrenator. 110Amps of goodness.

It took a bit of modification, a fair amount of grinding, but now I never drop below 14.2 volts ever! lol over kill considering I have no stereo or anything.

I was really hating the gages ziptied in the a-pillar so I grabbed some resin, fleece and some abs, and voila... I need to finish it but it really isn't a priority right now.

I started to stitch weld the chasis. Seeing as I have more time till my valves get here.

So I had this great idea, seeing as I have nothing but time. lol. I need a girlfriend. *coughs* yeah so I cut out the hheadlight motors and welded them up and decided I would make my own intake manifodl and some ducting so I can potential put the intercooler here.

The fans aren;t really going to be there it was just testing for space and fit options.

So in my pursuit of rb20det valves I found out that everthing else but the valves are the exact same between an rb20 and a vg30na.

And too the future. I got the brakes off the z32 and the rear aluminum spindles. My Hart 17x9s also came in. I got the pair used for 130$ shipped. A good polishing should clean everything up.

What does "gorilla style" mean? I am really white so help me out.

Alright today ended up being a work on the dash day. And the pictures make it look funny, but basically cut out a bunch of the glass I fleeced on there earlier and trimmed around the edges starting filling the portions with missing foam and glasses the entire thing once. Tommorrow I should be able to start smoothing in everything. Funny thing in the pictures the work I did makes it look worse.

Second z32 seats suck

Third did you stitch weld it just to look cool? Cause you can't really hit too many important spots with all that shit in the engine bay

Fourth I hope you hit a wall and it crushes those fans on your intercooler cause they are fucking retarded.

Sixth valves for the rb20? Why not just get another longblock? Everything about that car was junk... The last owner knew it too thats why he dumped it off on you. Guess what your the sucker and your too fucking ignorant to listen to anyone... It's a fucking rb20 and I'll bet money once these valves come the shit still won't run. Fucking passed down from half ass mechanic too half ass mechanic when will it end? Let me know when you sell it so I can light it on fire and end this madness.

GL running the intercooler piping like that, don't think I've ever seen it done like that on an RB. Have fun sanding the dash :)

Anyway here is the next installment. First off, the bent valves. Only three cause I chucked the one when I pulled the head apart... I was pissed.

ehh do the math , for the same price as a built sr with 350 hp , you can have a way faster 1j. i wont do the math for you cuz we have been over this countless times and im lazy.

no 240 to sit in is for fags.

finch, since you have no idea who i am or what i know, ill just be nice. sorry you dont like rb's. they are just a motor like all others. with the proper setup and tuning any motor can outspank another. they are designed a bit better than the early jz series motors in many respects. ever had your head on a flow bench? nvm...

i would have a 240, but i dont have everything i need to build one up, and im currently deep into another project. plus, i like sr's in all respects except that everybody and his grandma has one. some people have 2 or 3. im a fan of originality. plus, i dont trust high-revving jz motors that havent been properly modified to handle it.

Yeah but I'm not gonna sit back while some fucking moron comes on here and talks about how one motor is better than the other when he has not a clue what he is talking about. This guy hasn't put either head on a flow bench he is just going off bullshit he reads on the internet. Regardless of what the results even may be the arguement is stupid because there are so many other factors that go into a motor and there really is no arguement between the two.

He brought the shit up to take a shot at me and I'm gonna fire one back end of story. Just because a motor isn't from the same manufacturer doesn't mean it shouldn't be put in a car... This guy is just plain ignorant and you mise well ban me because I'm not gonna lay off the rb's. Everyone does things for a reason and anyone that comes on here and claims to do something because it's fucking different is full of fucking shit. If they weren't such broke faggots who cared so much about what other people thought they wouldn't be trying so hard to be different. All that should matter is making the most out of your money making your car perform the best it possibly can with the budget provided and enjoy driving it. Not coming on here to get attention cause they have a "skyline" motor in there car... I'm sick of hearing it. It's the most fucking retarded reason for doing something.

The fact of the matter is regardless of manufacturer the rb is a pretty poor motor overall. I could understand if it was just a drop in scenario or came factory in the car than of course it's the best choice without a crazy budget. The fact of the matter is with the same budget this guy could be on the road with a car that has just as much power, even more reliable, cheaper to maintain on top of being a faster revving and more fun to drive. Shit it would actually be running... The descisions were poorly made and I may be pointing this out in the most rude and abrubt method possible but fuck it everyone here knows thats just how I am.

I just really think this boostcreep guy is a fucking douche bag... Does he even have anywhere near the hands on personal experience I do working on all of these motors in conversation or even nissans in general to open his fucking mouth? At least when I come on here running my mouth it's always factual and comes from personal experience not bs I read on the fucking internet. Maybe I'm just pissed that this forum is full of fags and will never be the nv240sx we all loved... Who knows but I still hate all the dipshits on here...

He knows his shit, regaurdless. there was a line of sr's in there even a z32 with an rb25 or 26. that chris himself installed. so maybe people should listen to what he has to say.

I haven't been on this forum for very long and I probably don't rate an opinion but I'm sure its far from it's best. There should be write ups, faqs, fsm and shit. this should be a place to come for resources, arrange meets shit like that. come on here to get opinions, catch up with homies, sell shit whatever. People keeping everyone updated with their builds, getting advice etc.

However I have been a member of vegasdrift for awhile and it seems like this almost getting that way which is shitty.

one thing that makes my local forum pretty clean and free of assholes is a required intro. that way we can gauge what kind of member he/she is and treat them accordingly. seriously out of all the members on here I bet only 15-20 percent of them are active and even less make posts.

I'm sure you guys will figure it out and I really hope you do, I always had mad fun at those stupid import cruises and bbq'a and shit like that are dope too.

The rbz31 I did not do... That car was a heap of shit anyways... Tried liening it and the owners decided they wanted it back which was cool they paid but funny thing was the headgasket took a shit lol. Nissan headgaskets are awesome! lol Shoulda been a toyota motor in that car... You came by when there was a bunch of shit buckets at the shop.
