always make sure the throw-out bearing is properly aligned.

correct.

the TOB was rotated about 90* out of position, so it was at a bit of an angle. Result = release fork not moving back to resting position by itself and requiring too much force (aka; slave cylinder over extending) to compensate.

We pulled the trans this afternoon, immediately saw the problem, fixed it, replaced trans, clutch bled and pumps up perfectly...finally feels like a Spec Stg. 3 should :)
