Sup 240 fans,
My redtop's been acting funny. Every other day, when I take a quick right turn, shift to 2nd gear, and accelerate, the engine bogs and slowly accelerates. It does this at different times once every couple-few days. I've asked many folks but still can't get a straight answer.
Myth #1: It could be the MAF sensor.
Myth #2: THe fuel injectors might not be firing.
Please help!
Also, I did a dyno of my car at a nearby tuning shop and they said it was pushing 170HP. Is that wheel or base HP? Shouldn't it be 205HP as the engine promises?
Please help me with that also.
Thanks....

its rated at 205, you should be making 205 on stock boost with supporting mods...whats done to your car?

I know its rated at 205 and its not wheel horsepower, thats why I said with supporting mods...i.e full exhaust, fuel pump, and fmic

when the motor was new it should have made about 205 hp crank. its not new, and hes not measuring at the crank. therefore low hp numbers. thats all.

he has like a full exhaust i think its only 2.5 maybe 3 inch and then a frontmount boost controller the bov seems like a likely problem....did you run stock boost at the dyno? the car didn't feal that bad nor that great it was like average when i rode in it.

My mods are:
Greddy FMIC V-spec
Greddy RS BOV
2.5" Greddy Catback
When the dyno was done, it was at stock boost (7lb.).
I still have the stock sr MAF and ECU running.
So, am I getting the expected HP from the car? Please let me know.
Also, are you sure it's the MAF that's causing my car to bog? Should I go with a JWT MAF? I think I've been told to get the COBRA version.
Thanks for the help.

I would go up to a 3"+ exhaust, just my opinion...I had a greddy sp system on my car for the longest time and it was crap
if you got the money buy a 300zx maf, best maf unless youre going standalone.
I dont know alot about the cobra maf's, enthalpy doesnt tune them, maybe theres a reason why?

^ i agree....3" & 300zx if you plan on upgrading....and yeah your hp numbers sound right.

Sweeeet. So the numbers are right.
Out of curiousity:
Dyno says it runs 170HP.
Redtop sellers online say it runs 205HP.
Why is mine lower again? Someone please explain.
In addition, where can I buy the 300zx MAF? Will it completely fix my bogging problem? And do I need any extra parts/labor (ECU tune, plugs, wires, etc.)?
If so, can you guys give me a quick breakdown of everything I'll need to safely fix the problem once and for all.
You fellas are the BEST. You've all been most helpful.

if youre gonna run a z32 maf you'll need either an safc-2 or a rom tune..but like I said if you have the money just get everything you need i.e. injectors and rom tune
you should be making more whp then that on stock boost, do you have an aftermarket fuel pump? fmic? tell us whats all done to your car

I listed it on top ^.
What do dyno's measure? Wheel Horsepower right? So that means I'm getting 170HP to the wheels. Which i heard is what i should be getting. Right????

why didnt you ask the guys at the dyno shop what your numbers ment?? or atleast have them explain the conecpt of loss of power?? you didnt want them to know youre a noob or what??
to the problem.. how old is your fuel filter/pump?? my car starts to sputter when I need a new fuel pump/filter.. its a smart thing to change your fuel pump atleast twice a year..
