ok i got a Free, again i said FREE CT26 turbine off a MK3 Supra from a friend of mine, so dont flame. as i was looking around and i test fitted the turbine and i noticed its facing the wrong way. im going to have to get a new flange welded 90 degrees the other way for it to face the right way but i still have to spin the compressor housing. from what i read around this means "re-clocking" it. i have a vauge idea of how to do it but if anyone knows for sure how to do it let me know. also, i noticed that this turbo is only water cooled. there is no oil lines anywhere on the turbo. im not palning on boosting more then 6 lbs. on this turbo so i was wondering if this would affect (and i know it will but im still asking) the turbos preformance. ie. over heating of the turbo it self. would i have to run coolent or could i jsut run it by its self with out coolent and still have the turbo preform as it sopposed to with out problems. again im only planning on running 5-6lbs.

ummm.....i dont think there are only water cooled turbo's. but yeah reclocking is easy. see the bolts on the back of compressor side? unbolt spin tighten done.

i figured thats how you did it. as for it only being water cooled, im positive is. i mean i havent had much experience with turbos, but im not some jackass kid who dont know sheit. and i dont see where where you would hook up oil lines too. i can post pics for you guys if you guys want to see.

its for a KA. im using it because the turbo has no shaft play, was never boosted past stock boost, came off an automatic turbo motor (so it was never raced), and it was free. yeah i will post pics.

in the 1st pic that lil fitting to the top right is jsut a vaccum line.
the 2nd pic, that hole you can see right thru it into the hole which is pic 4.
and pic 3 is the third hole where the coolant runs thru. none of those are for oil. and there isnt anymore fittings where you would plug up an oil line too.

so much work to use a supra turbo. It would just be easier to use a t28 or something but if you have why not use it. If it doesn't need oil don't use oil...

I am pretty sure that all turbos need oil, they spin very fast and need something to lubricate the bearings inside. water is only used to cool the turbo.

ok how would i go about on checking the level of oil in the bearings or changing it out or what not?

no such thing as a watercooled only turbo... water isn't necissary but oil is... I don't thing the t28 would be any easier in this situation... The problem is with a turbo that old they are super hard to reclock cause the bolts get stuck in there... You need some kind of lube and nice wrenches and I'm not talking craftsmen either... Then hope you don't break any of them. Oil is fed to the turbine from a pressure source in this case would be from where the oil pressure sensor is and fed to the turbo... Then is drained into the oil pan by gravity....

:haha: I'm with you and the other guy that said oil is needed. I can't see the pictures cause I'm on an old ass computer but I'm sure there are oil lines or you could just buy a grease gun and oil up the turbine manually every few miles or so LOL ;)
I'd be a first and would show how much a few of us know if there aren't oil lines but I'd check on a Supra forum on something like that, they would have more knowledge about this turbo. Good Luck
