does anyone know what is wrong with my car? starter? or alternator? when i try to start it up it tries to turn over and then it just makes clicking noises. I tried to listen where the clicking noise is coming from but I couldn't figure it out. any info would help. i'm thinking its the starter because I tried hitting the alternator with a hammer and nothing happens.

get a jump and try that first that might be the easiest fix the just the alternator voltage and battery.

Hitting your alternator will not help anything, your battery is probally just dead, take it to autozone they will check it for free. If your battery is complety dead then it wont take a jump.

ok i'll try taking my battery to autozone. if its dead i'll go get a new battery and see if it starts up.

car has no power it's one or the other... try running your car with the battery cable disconnection the ground and if it still runs then the alternater is good.

starter....cuz when you put the new battery in it should turn over even if your alternator was bad...it would run for a few minutes at least..

Yup It's the starter..........two bolts and take off wiring.....install new started. Easy fix!
P.S. HAHA you actually hit your altenator with a hammer! I don't know but that's just funny to me. What should happen when you hit it with a hammer?

is removing the transmission the easiest way to change out the starter? or is there another way?
