We plan to use channels:

2 / 4 - Thats channel 2, subchannel 4

and

1 / 8 - Thats channel 1, subchannel 8

the 2/4 combination refers to 240sx
the 1/8 combination refers to 180sx

*update*
Here's Champa's idea..

5/13 and 5/14

refers to S13 and S14.

Refer to these channels during meets and gatherings so when we're out hanging out and you're looking for us, check both channels and see if were on them.
Then simply talk it out with us!
I hope this is helpful to all of you.

But one last thing, you're hand held radio must have SUBCHANNELS/SECURITY CODES for it to work with these combinations. Please check your manual or box (if you still have them) if they're compatible. IF not, we can work out something for the members, keep reading down..

Special Walky-Talkie Deal Through NV240SX.org

For 20$, you can get an Audiovox brand 2-way radio with 5-mile range, powered by 4 rechargable AAAA batteries (which is included), leather case, microphone headset , which also incorporates the 22 channels with 38 subchannel feature. You can participate in this deal, by simply replying to this post with your email and/or AIM sn, and we'll contact you with more information.

Thats it! Also, if you have any questions regarding any of this, please feel free to post it here!

It would be good to decide on 1 channel ONLY for convention announcements (that way people w/ 2-ways at the convention can tune to 1 specific channel to find out the official "what's going on").

You could probably also have 1 "general" channel for regular banter, and for people to call in on as they're on their way into vegas.

obviously we're depending on people to behave and listen to the rules for use of the channels, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem ;)

well the first two channels listed above is just for meets and gatherings
but one simple channel for the convention will be fine since not all people will be using radios with subchannel frequencies. but if you dont already have a walkie talkie, try to get it through us or buy one that has the extra 38 sub channels.

to be honest, almost any 2way with 14 channels will work.
we usually use ones with subchannels but when were all together we usually stick to a main channel like channel 4 or 5 to keep it simple.

Joel, that'd be cool to have one of these. Will they work car-to-car pretty well?

they work pretty good, depending on what brand you buy. if lets say one person has a cheap set and u have a good set, the conversation will be pretty bad. but if both parties had good clear sounding sets, then yea it would be great. its good for long drives, makes it kind of fun.

..and yes, some people use 'roger' 'over' 'over and out'. i need not state who these people are.  you geeks.
