Well, if anyone wants/cares, one of the local F-body guys is selling an RB20DET motor he brought back from japan a few years ago.

http://www.lvfbody.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13017

He's asking $1100 OBO right now, so it would be a good chance to pick one up cheap. There's no harness/ecu i think, so it would be a pretty good project to start off with a standalone ECU, plus there's a bunch of extra parts :)

RB20 is a crappy motor...motorset is only worth about $800 at the most...they require too much work to make fast (dont think its like the SR20 cause its FAR from it) unless you buy the ENTIRE FRONT CLIP the motor will be nothing but a pain in the ass as you are missing the front cross member, motor mounts, wiring harness, SMIC, and a few other things...only RB worth using really is the RB26

are you serious? there are a couple guys here who have RB20s in their cars. those things are freakin fast.

I was just pointing it out. I've personally never seen an RB20 swapped 240 in person, but would love to.

Lennon, have you ever ridden in one, built one up yourself, or tuned one? In my mind unless you've done either of the latter two, you have 0 right to comment, since you're just spouting second-hand crap that you gleaned from some message board.

I'm well aware. I was just elaborating on your comment.

I really would like to see an RB20 powered car so I could draw my own conclusions on it :)

rb20 is one of my choices as a swap. Ive found front clips on ebay ranging in price from 1000 to 1500 depending on mileage. Ive heard nothing but good things from people who have had em. I saw that ad about a month ago. I just assumed it was sold by now

personally i wouldn't buy a JDM engine from ebay. to many stories of people getting ripped off. venus-auto.com is your best bet for cheap clips or motorsets.

Lennon is just playing Devil's advocate. Id really love to drive, see, touch, smell an rb20 in person to see the diff between that and the rb25 like krayton's. the weight balance would also be better correct? but yo james, thats it for u man! lets sell your crate asap!

no diffrence with the look of the motors.. just small details.. there would be no way i would go with a rb20.. the 25-26 is where its at..

its a fact that the RB20 isnt that great of a motor...i was planning to swap one into my 240 before i did my SR swap (was gonna get the clip for $1600 to my door) HOWEVER...i did a ton of reading on the motor (also talked with people who had done the swap as well) most people didnt like the motor...sure its basically a scaled down RB26...but there are SOOOOO many differences between the 20/25 and the 26...the 26 is a motor MADE for power...justin burger regrets ever spending the money on his RB25...why...cause it requires too much work to do what a RB26 will do with bolt ons...not only that but a RB swap will mess up the weight distribution of the car...so thank you but i have PLENTY of right to comment as i know what that motor is about...shit most people swap them out of their Cefiros with a SR20 or RB26...why??? cause its a crap motor and costs way too much to build to a RELIABLE state that the SR and RB26 can easily achieve

PS: RB swaps require TONS of work!!!! if you wanna do one dont EVER EVER EVER EVER BUY A MOTORSET YOU WILL BE MISSING A TON OF PARTS!!!!! (it may seem cheaper but guess what...YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE RB CROSS MEMBER FOR IT TO FIT INTO THE S CHASSIS)

if anyone on here is thinking about a swap i HIGHLY recommend you do a SR or CA swap first...learn how to do shit on those motors first...an RB swap is NOT meant for people with NO motor tuning experience...the RB swaps require ALOT (and i mean ALOT) of time, patience, and money...also RB parts arent exactly as easy as the SR/CA parts to find in this country (not to say theyre impossible but you will have a MUCH easier time finding SR and CA parts....they will be ALOT cheaper as well)

I honestly dont like the fact of putting that engine in cause it ruin's the balance of the car. People i met who had one say's it has alot of over steer when you try to drift. Personally I like balance in a car, I would stick the sr or just leave it and turbo it. somethings wer'nt meant to be done. If it was , Im sure nissan would have givin the option in japan for the engine.
