Saturday it is...

Can someone please find Mt. Charleston info online we can post....I can't find what I am looking for. Cathedral Rock Trail / BBQ area.

I figure for those who want to hike we can meet up at the base of Mt. Charleston (Kyle Canyon, first turnoff) at like 9:30, get to the trail head at like 10am, hike, get back to BBQ area at like noon, meet everyone else that didn't hike, eat, throw a fresbie around, and then take a cruise.

I know it costs like $5-10 to get into the BBQ area. I THINK its per car, don't know. Some can park outside the area and we can carpool in. There is not much room to park once you are in the BBQ area anyway, maybe 2-3 cars per site. if we get enough people we might need to rent one of thier group areas. I also don't know how much that costs.....I know there is a website that lists maps, hours, prices....cant find it

I can't afford to do the shopping this time. I can provide the charcol and about $5.00 towards stuff.

Well, I found that the group area is like $100 to rent....so NO

It looks as if there are 2 cars allowed per spot. I know things fill up on the weekends. When the people that are going to hike get there at like 10am we will reserve like 2 spots next to each other. Everyone else can park outside the gate (its a short walk) and meet us inside around noon.

Anyone want to spend Saturday night camping? Beer :drink: & Marshmellows...

Marshmellow > :flamed: < Me

2 beers + 130lbs (me) = :sleepeasy:

2 beers + 130lbs (me) + marshmellows = :puke:

enough fun with smilies

Guess there is only a couple of us going, which is cool still.

Who wants to hike?

Who wants to BBQ?

Who wants to camp?

So far...
Doug - Hike, BBQ, Camp. Bringing - Charcol, small tent, firewood (not sure if "NO" fires are in effect for the mountain) a little food. Maybe some :gotspam:

Doug I am off at 4:00 on Saturdays now. I would be open to camping. Have not done it in years....Hopefully the o2 housing will stay on for the drive....Joke

OK

so far we have...

Doug (iceperformance) - Anytime Saturday. Hike/BBQ/Cruise/Camp
Matt (msaskin) - Anytime Saturday. BBQ/Cruise
??? sorry (ex0dus) - after 4pm. BBQ/Camp
Jamie (drftfan) - after 4pm. BBQ/Camp

Anyone getting off work at 4 I can't imagine could get up there before 5. Should be a little daylight until 8.

If we wait until like 5-6pm to get a camping spot sometimes they fill up. Maybe I will reserve one when I get up there first thing. I have no idea where I will end up getting a camping spot. Cel phone works in a few spots here and there up there.

I have one extra sleeping bag (already reserved for drftfan). I doubt we HAVE to have a tent, unless it rains....but it never rains

If its just Matt and I in the morning maybe we will just wait and head up at 5pm with everyone else.

Get to a camping spot around 5:30. Take a crusie. Come back to the camping spot. Eat. Those that want to stay can stay.

Everyone needs to bring whatever they want to eat/drink. I can bring charcoal. I'll cook just about anything on a grill. Steak, hotdogs, hamburgers, chipmunks. You bring it, I'll cook it.

What is everyones thought on meeting at the bottom of Kyle Canyon, first turn off to Mt. Charleston on the 95 North at 5pm?

Can you get there by then?

Gives us 3 hours of daylight to have 'safe' driving fun and to find a place to camp.

Driving around in the dark is plenty safe. In fact, I almost like it more since you can see when a car is coming around a blind turn towards you due to headlights in the road-side reflectors :)

I digress. It would probably be a bit easier if we all just met up a little earlier (4:30 or so?) at some place along 95 north-bound (some gas station?). It's probably easier for most to guess how long it will take them to get there then to get an unspecified distance north on I-95.
