hi guys... I don't know why, but forum would not let me start a new topic under tech/install.. so here I post this help list...
I need to change the lsd fluids so bad!! and looking at this 2 liter can of tomei lsd fluids and it's $50!!!! plus shippin' from jspec... and recommanded to change every 7500miles and before track day... so I like to know what would be the good alternative choice of clutch type lsd fluids... I think they are pretty much same... 80w-90.....more info please~
second, I just got rebuilt z32 brake calipers and it's not looking as good as matt's z32 brake calipers.. it's aight tho..I still think it's worth it.. but I like to sand it down a lil' and paint'em glossy black since it's kinda dirty silver rite now.....so I'm just wondering what's the difference between those $50 caliper paint and $5 high temp resistance spray paint that alot of people use to spray their civic's valve cover? has anyone used those $50 caliper paint? just give me some opinions and experiences I guess..
and last, someone please shoot my boss! he scheduled me again on next friday..which means that I will be missing the third episode of fun drifting series..so hit me up with some kick ass call-in excuses that you guys might used before(and GOT AWAY...ofcourse)...
thanx guyz... min

LSD fluid - can't help you there. as long as you pick something with similar propertires to the tomei fluid you should be good to go

Brake paint - I'll check with my friend brad what he used. I know it was hi temp paint, and I know he certainly wouldn't spend that much on it ;)
Autozone has fairly inexpensive brake caliper paint iirc.

Excuses - I'd say call in that afternoon (or morning) about a family emergency. Someone went to the hospital, you have to run out of town for the weekend, etc, etc, :)

haha.. thanx matt...
I think I can find some syntech fluids from FL.....I'll check back on fluids..
but about the excuse.. . it ain't gonna work.. cuz I've been asking my boss for those fridays off for last two month you know... so any simple call-out will get me in trouble.. and all my family and friends are in FL.. any doctors or bussiness appointments won't work becuz I work nights.. no school excuses, no car breakdown(he knows that I have two cars), and no food poisoning sick....
so guys... I need a noodle storm.. that can bring me a good unsuspicious excuse~

LSD question-if you are using an aftermarket LSD (like KAAZ, CUSCO, or ATS) its a good idea to change yer diff fluid after EVERY event (if youre not beating it up at events then change it once EVERY 2 months)...aftermarket LSDs burn thru gear oil QUICK (itll drain out BLACK as night when u change it)...i use redline in my diff...works well...its kind of expensive but it works well (i think its like 6 bux a qt) its a small price to pay to take care of yer LSD...if youre still running yer stock VLSD then u dont really need to worry about changing the diff fluid on it like u would an aftermarket one...its made to take the abuse and strain of people neglecting to change the oil in it (i personally hate VLSD...they wear out after a long time of hard use...just the nature of the LSD) i run 80w-125 in my diff...it holds up pretty well for 1-2 events...but take the extra steps to change out the gear oil after every event...dont wanna waste 700-1000 bones on breaking yer LSD do u

as far as yer brake question i have no clue...havent tried paint my calipers so i dunno...btw where did u and matt get yer rebuilt calipers from?? and how much??

Autozone mang! $200 (and you get $50 back as core) for a loaded set of Z32 26mm aluminum calipers (albeit with real shitty pads).

I went for 26mm for wheel clearance issues. The downside is that sice they're aluminum, the rotor is doing most of the heat dissipation, so it's a little more likely to warp rotors. To solve this I'm planning on machining out some thing (4mm or so) titanium backing plates to go between the pads and pistons and aid in blocking the heat transfer from caliper to rotor.

PM or IM me later on and i'll get you the autozone part number.

oh~ by the way...I just returned my z32 calipers to autozone and ordered me a another set becuz they refused to help my out on this one little cross clip! It came with one bad cross clip and I was gonna purchase it my self($35 for whole set of hardware for front pair from heavythrottle) but they were giving me mad attitude! so I got really pissed off and returned the whole thing, and ordered me another pair~ kaka..doesn't make difference for me rite? :P ~
so I have all the brake parts still sitting in my room looking at me all sad.. with the rims..but it's all good cuz I'll have my tires will be in tuesday or wed this week~
didn't go with azenis sport!! I can't.. those tires are too damn grippy for my ka....
instead got azenis st115... which is better tires than ziex cuz it's Z rated with same 360 treadware.. so I can burn'em up anytime and anywhere when I'm driving home from work! it was pretty much same price with azenis sport tho~ TT.TT
on LSD... I changed fluids at my friend's house with NEO fluids~ awesome~ yes.. I heard good things bout redline oils... so I'ma get couple bottles myself soon~! but my fluids came out very clear tho~ cuz I don't ever drive hard I guess...
thanx for all your help guys..~

LSD - i would never use anything besides what is recommended by the manufacture. if you have a tomei then use their oil, if kaaz then use kaaz oil. personally i would not mess with other lsd oil cus i know that kaaz oil is ment to be used for kaaz LSDs and the same can be said for tomei, ATS, cusco, etc. their oil is designed for their LSDs. who else would know more about tomei LSDs then the guys at tomei?

and on the topic of VLSD. you cannot change the viscous fluid in a vlsd. it is permenately sealed within the diff itself. the 75w-90 oil you need to change is just oil for the pinion gear, bearings, and what not. just change it whenever it is recommended from nissan.

IMO VLSD = big waste of money. they were never designed to have huge amount of slip e.g, drifting and doing donuts. this is why they work like crap and don't lock the wheels during a few runs in a drift event. save your money and buy a real LSD or just get your open diff welded. then you can be cool like some of us phoenix guys and have a solid axle ;)

it all comes down to "it's your car and your money" but don't be surprised if your LSD blows up prematurely.
